Farmers Market Sales Representative
Small Bees | Part-time, weekends- Sunday | Newark, CA (pickup and drop-off in Campbell, CA)
Pay: $20+ hourly, plus sales bonuses and mileage reimbursement for the pickup and return trips.
About Us
Small Bees is a family beekeeping business serving the Bay Area since 2002. We sell honey, beeswax candles, lip balm, hand cream, and honey-goat-milk soap at local farmers' markets. Our markets are friendly, fun, and full of curious customers.
The Role
You’ll represent Small Bees at our Sunday market in Newark, CA, set up a booth that draws people in, and chat with customers about honeybees and our products. You’ll work independently, so we’re looking for someone who is outgoing, reliable, and comfortable making their own decisions without close supervision.
Schedule
- Primary shift: Every Sunday at the Newark market, rain or shine. Market hours are from 9 am to 1 pm. You need to be at the market by 8:30 am and leave by 1:30 pm.
- Flexibility: We also sell at other Bay Area markets on Saturdays and Sundays, including Campbell, Sunnyvale, and Palo Alto. You’re welcome to pick up substitute shifts at those markets. We’re flexible on time off as long as it’s arranged ahead of time.
- Commitment: We need someone who can be there every week. No last-minute cancellations.
Responsibilities
- Pick up products and marketing materials in Campbell the morning of the market, and return them afterward
- Set up and break down the booth to maximize interest and sales
- Greet customers and educate them about honeybees and our products
- Handle cash and process credit card sales on Square
Requirements
- A vehicle to transport supplies between Campbell and the market
- Valid CA driver’s license
- Able to lift and carry 50 pounds and stand for 4 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Basic math skills for retail and cash handling
- Friendly, personable, and detail-oriented, with clear communication
- Comfortable working outdoors in a fast-paced setting
Nice to Have
- Prior farmers market or sales experience (not required; we’ll train you)
- Willingness to work at additional locations
